Senior research fellow, research group leader
associate professor

Dr. Robert Kun obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Szeged, Hungary in 2006. Between 2009 and 2018 he has pursued his research at the University of Bremen, Germany. During the period 2014-2018 Dr. Kun acted as the leader of the Innovative Sensor and Functional Materials Research Group at the University of Bremen, Faculty of Production Engineering and Fraunhofer IFAM/Bremen. Since 2019 Dr. Kun is the leader of the Solid State Energy Research Group at the ELKH Research Centre for Natural Sciences (ELKH TTK) in Budapest, Hungary, and associate professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology (VBK). Current scientific topics of his research group comprise development and investigation of functional materials for Generation 4/5 Li-ion and post Li-ion batteries. Special focus is put on Li-S battery systems, and on the processing and electrochemical performance testing of mechanically flexible/bendable, all-solid-state Li-ion batteries. Moreover, development and in-depth characterization of dry-solid-polymer-electrolyte (DSPE) materials for new-generation Li-ion batteries. Dr. Kun is author of more than 35 scientific papers, 2 patents and he is a co-author of 3 book chapters, with >1100 citations and h-index of 20. Till March/2021 he obtained a total of 1,543,026 EUR research funding from German, and Hungarian research funding institutions.
