Florian Schrenk graduated in 2024 with a degree in Technical Chemistry from the Technical University of Vienna. During his PhD studies, he focused on the development and characterization of novel energy materials. His academic career included positions at the Technical University of Vienna and the University of Leoben, as well as a research stay at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
In 2025, Florian joined the R&D Department of the Donau Chemie Group, where he focuses, among other topics, on emerging sulfuric acid markets. Through this work, he became increasingly engaged with lithium-ion battery recycling and the Hungarian battery ecosystem, developing extensive expertise in battery materials, manufacturing processes, and market dynamics. Today, he serves as Donau Chemie's in-house expert on battery technologies and related value chains.
In addition to his role at Donau Chemie, Florian is a core team member of the Young European Catalyst Society (YEuCat) and was selected to participate in the sixth cycle of the Young Energy Professionals (YEP) Program of the Austrian Chapter of the World Energy Council in 2026.
