Gábor Bercsi

CEO, SPIE Hungaria

Gábor Bercsi graduated from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) as a mechanical engineer, majoring in energy engineering, and then also obtained a degree in economic engineering. He started his professional career at ABB's Hungarian subsidiary, where he was involved in the development and sales of various combined heat and power plants. He then took over the management of Sinergy Kft, a newly established company of the ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ group. In the 13 years he was there, the company, which started from scratch, became one of the leading players in the Hungarian energy sector in the field of power plant development, operation and maintenance. In parallel, he was first a member of the board, then vice-president and finally president of the Hungarian Combined Heat and Power Association (MKET) and for several years he was also a member of the steering committee of Cogen Europe. He subsequently headed the domestic subsidiary of the Nabucco natural gas pipeline project, and after a brief stint in East Africa, he held top management positions in the domestic companies of the French energy group Engie, before taking over almost six years ago as CEO of SPIE Hungaria Kft, a domestic subsidiary of SPIE SA, a French multi-technology service provider.
