Varinia Radu

Co-Founder and CEO, Energynomics

Energy lawyer by training, Varinia Radu has more than twenty years of international experience, with a practice spanning electricity, renewables, nuclear, oil & gas, and mineral resources. She is recognized as one of the leading voices in Romania’s renewables sector, having advised on some of the most innovative and large-scale energy transactions in recent years. Her expertise also extends to shaping policy and regulation, contributing to major legislative initiatives such as the transposition of the EU’s Fourth Energy Package for the electricity market and the design of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) support scheme for low-carbon technologies.

Her work covers all aspects of electricity and climate change policy, with a particular focus on decarbonisation strategies and climate risk management. She advises on energy regulation, licensing and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, finance, disputes, ESG projects, energy storage, electric mobility, hydrogen, offshore and onshore wind, EPC structures, and joint ventures.

In 2012, Varinia founded Energynomics out of the need for a complex and highly specialised communication platform for the Romanian energy industry, which at the time was undergoing significant transformation, marked by an influx of foreign investors and increasingly sophisticated challenges. More than a decade later, Energynomics has grown into a strong community and a reputable hub that fosters dialogue, ideas, and collaboration among the key movers and decision-makers of the industry.
